Alexandre’s passion for creating exquisite rums is boundless and the fruits of his labor are appreciated by many, whether bartenders or fine rum aficionados. He embraced the diversity of rum making when he created the Plantation Rum portfolio, uniquely double-aged in Cognac casks according to a special technique he has developed over his years as a Cognac master blender. Recently, he has invested even further into the source of rum production with his purchase of the famed West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados. Along with this purchase, Ferrand was also able to acquire one third of National Jamaican Rum Company with Clarendon Distillery and the mythical Long Pond Distillery.
His Rums earned him numerous prestigious distinctions around the world. In 2012, he was named Best Master Blender of Rum in the world (Golden Barrel Award – London). In 2017, he received the prestigious “Outstanding Contribution to Distilling” Award from the American Distilling Institute, the first time in the history of the award that it has been presented to an individual. Today, Plantation rums and their iconic raffia-wrapped bottles can be found at the world’s most prestigious tables, bars and retail shops. Plantation Rums have won the hearts of rum lovers all over the planet. References such as Stiggin’s Fancy Pineapple (named three times Best Spirit in the World) and Barbados XO 20th Anniversary have become classics.
